Michael Müller’s "Schwierige Bilder"

Rudolf Zwirner on the exhibition “Schwierige Bilder”

On the occasion of the solo exhibition Schwierige Bilder (Difficult Pictures), gallerist and curator Rudolf Zwirner and Michael Müller met in 2021 in the exhibition space Hasenheide 13 of the Wemhöner Collection in Berlin. In the historical setting of a former ballroom, which is currently being transformed into a museum space, the exhibition focused on the extensive series Schwierige Bilder and for the first time placed Müller’s strictly painterly work at the center.

Rudolf Zwirner, a long-time critical observer and companion of Müller’s artistic work, shares his thoughts and perspectives on the two-part large-format paintings, which oscillate between abstract painting and graphic reproduction of digital image manipulation, with the audience in an intimate atmosphere.
